Create the Luminous Painting II
Location: at the Soulworks Fine Art Studio
October 10-13, 2014
American contemporary realist artist and art educator, Deborah
Elmquist introduces you to classical approaches for creating
brilliant, luminous, paintings in traditional oils in an
artist’s workshop environment. Through her in-depth step-by-step
approach, Deborah teaches processes that were used by painters
like Rembrandt, da Vinci, Monet, Degas, Renoir, and other
masters - old and new - in a professional but enjoyable way.
With her easy to follow teaching approach, Deborah reveals the
mystery behind creating luminous paintings filled with fine
tonal qualities and rich color. In her own warm and personal
style she covers basic topics such as establishing foundational
forms, understanding light source, light quality and
temperature, dark and light patterns and values, and contrasting
warm and cool colors. Though the subject matter is academic in
nature, Deborah’s teaching method is not stuffy, or
professorial! In the workshop you will experience an
enjoyable learning environment. You will gain a deeper understanding of and greater appreciation
for Old Master techniques; techniques still applicable today for
the creation of modern day masterpieces in still life, portrait,
or landscape - all while networking with likeminded artists.
